Apostille & Hague Certification

Canadian Documents Recognized in 124+ Countries โ€” Since January 2024

In January 2024, Canada officially joined the Hague Apostille Convention โ€” a major milestone that simplifies international document authentication for Canadians worldwide. Previously, Canadians needed to go through a multi-step legalization process for each destination country. Now, a single Apostille certificate makes your Canadian documents legally recognized in 124+ member countries.

What Is an Apostille?

An Apostille is an internationally recognized certificate that verifies the authenticity of a document for use in a foreign country. It confirms the signature, seal, or stamp on the document is genuine. Once apostilled, the document does not need further authentication to be accepted in any Hague Convention member country.

Documents That Can Be Apostilled

  • RCMP Criminal Record Checks (Police Certificates)
  • Birth certificates
  • Marriage and divorce certificates
  • Educational diplomas and transcripts
  • Notarized documents and affidavits
  • Corporate documents (certificates of incorporation, etc.)
  • Power of attorney
