What Is International Fingerprinting?
International fingerprinting is a process that allows Canadians living abroad — or in areas where digital fingerprinting isn’t available — to have their fingerprints scanned and submitted to the RCMP electronically.
You get your fingerprints taken locally at a police station, embassy, or other recognized authority in your country. You then mail your original fingerprint card and documents to our Edmonton office. We digitize the card using certified card scan technology and submit your application to the RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification System (CCRTIS) via a secure connection.
The RCMP compares your fingerprints against the national criminal database. If no criminal record is found, your Certified Criminal Record Check certificate is typically issued within 5–10 business days and mailed to you or your designated third party.
