Name-Based Criminal Record Check
Fast CPIC Checks Using Your Name & Date of Birth
A Name-Based Criminal Record Check (also called a CPIC name check) searches the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database using your legal name and date of birth. This is the fastest type of criminal record check and is suitable for most employment, volunteer, and general screening purposes.
Results are typically available the same day or within 24โ48 hours, depending on whether a CPIC match is found.
How It Works
- You provide your name and date of birth โ No fingerprints required for a basic name check
- CPIC database is searched โ The query is run against the national criminal database
- Certificate issued โ If no match is found, a “no criminal record” certificate is issued
- Fingerprints may be required โ If CPIC finds a potential match or the requesting organization requires a certified check, fingerprints must be submitted to confirm identity
